We acknowledge; God forgives

David uses this Psalm 32 as a maskil to teach a specific lesson to the readers. Our meditation will focus on verses 1 to 5 and the central idea is about how God forgives his sins.
Interestingly verses 1 and 2 comprises of a promise from God – how it is a blessing when our sins are being resolved. The word “blessed” appears twice at the beginning of each verse and what follows after that describes the promise or the blessing in greater depth. The promise of having our sins covered and no deceit being found originates from God when He forgives our transgression and counts no iniquity against us.
In contrast, verses 3 and 4 describes a man whose sins are not being resolved. As a result, it even affects his physical faculties – his bones are wasted away and his strength diminished. As long as he keeps silent and does not address his sins, he will remain to struggle in his communion with God.
Verses 5 and 6 conclude this section by teaching us how we should resolve our sins through confession whenever we commit them. Confession of sins involves two basic steps. First, we acknowledge that we have done wrong against Him; we should not think that we can hide and cover our sins from God. It is absurd to think that this is possible. Or for that matter, it is pointless that we try to rationalize our sin by blaming others or condoning our fleshly evil desires. What we need to do is to instead come clean before God by telling him specifically – what and how we have sinned against Him.
Second, when we have acknowledged our sins, we can be certain and claim upon the promise that God has forgiven not only this, but also all my sins when Jesus died 2000 years ago. His atonement at the Cross cleanses us from all our sins - past, present and future. One way that we can demonstrate our gratitude for His forgiveness is to repent from our sins.
In summary, when we do something wrong against God – we acknowledge our sins to Him and we also claim upon His promise that He forgives us. Dear brothers and sisters, have you sinned against God recently but you have not confessed your sin to God yet? Please take this opportunity right now to come before His holy presence and confess your sin to Him.
