The book of Psalms resonates deeply with many believers because it reflects our experiences and emotions. In times of trouble, the psalmist's words offer comfort and hope. For example, Psalm 9:9 says, "The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." This verse reminds us that God is our safe haven, a place of protection and security.

In addition to offering comfort, the Psalms also remind us of God’s ultimate authority and justice. Psalm 9:7-8 declares, "But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness." These verses affirm God's authority and justice, giving us confidence in His plan. I remember going through a particularly difficult period. I was managing a project that had been severely underquoted, and any mistake could have jeopardized the survival of the company. At the same time, my wife and I were expecting our first child. I was overwhelmed, exhausted by worry and sleepless nights. During that season, reading one psalm a day became my lifeline. It gave me the strength to carry on. Psalm 9:10 says, “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” That verse reminded me that God sees us, cares for us, and never abandons those who turn to him.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank you for your Word that sustains us in times of trouble. Help us to trust in your sovereignty and goodness, and to find refuge in your presence. May your Psalms continue to be a source of hope and comfort for us. Amen.
