Sharing

Russia invaded Ukraine. Hamas attacked Israel, and Israel responded forcefully. Border tensions between India and Pakistan, and between Thailand and Cambodia, have also sparked brief but unsettling clashes.

The threat of war is no longer distant; it has become part of our present reality. In such a world, fear and anxiety can easily fill our hearts.

However, in Psalm 68, verse 11 to 13 presents us with a striking image: amidst chaos and war, God gives His Word and the enemy flees. Even women at home, though not on the battlefield, share in the spoils. God's people are at peace, like a dove with wings of silver and feathers of gold, an image of peace, beauty, and victory.

This passage reminds us that true peace does not come from politics, military power, or worldly leaders, but from the sovereign work of God Himself. It is His Word that brings victory, and His presence that gives security and assurance. Even when everything around us is in turmoil, we can find true peace and rest in Him.

Verse 11 also highlights our responsibility as God's people: in an age of violence and conflict, we are called to proclaim His Word and be part of the "great host" who bring the good news.

Reflection

In a world filled with the noise of war and conflict, let us turn to the Lord who proclaims peace and causes enemies to flee.

May we not be overwhelmed by the chaos around us, but like those who "lie down among the sheepfolds," find rest in God’s promises (v.13).

More importantly, may we be part of that "great host" who declare His Word and bring the good news of peace to a troubled world.

Prayer

Dear Father, we live in a world filled with war and conflict. But we thank You for the power of Your Word, and that Your kingdom cannot be shaken. Help us to find peace in You amid this turbulent world. Use us to bring peace and hope, and to proclaim to the world that You have triumphed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
