Welcome the King of Glory

Every Sunday, when you step into the church to worship God, how do you feel? Have you ever paused to think that you came because you are actually God's most precious creation? The Lord, who created the heavens and the earth and owns everything, has personally invited you to come to know him, to believe in him, and even to enter his sanctuary and meet him (vv. 1–3).
And you responded to his call, came before him, stood in his sanctuary, and sang your praises.
We are not perfect, nowhere near it. But God has never expected us to be perfect, he wants those who are “clean in hands and pure in heart” (v. 4), those who are willing to surrender to his hands and be shaped by him. As long as you come before him with an honest, humble, and open heart, you are worshiping him in spirit and in truth.
“Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.” (v. 7, 9).
The gates of the cities shall be lifted up, not just the gates of the temple, but the gates of your heart.
Who is he? He is the Lord of hosts, and he is the King of glory! (v. 10)
Response: When you come to church this Sunday, come with a joyful heart, you have been personally invited by the King of glory to worship him. Lay down your burdens, open your heart, and welcome him to fill you. He is worthy of your deepest worship.
Prayer:
King of glory, thank you for inviting me into your presence. I open my heart to you, cleanse me, shape me, and fill me. You are worthy of all my worship. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
