God is Sovereign

Psalm 2 can be divided into four sections.
First, verses 1-3 describe the arrogance of nations that are self-sufficient and pride themselves that they thrive on their own terms and do not rely on others, even God. They also openly rebel against the authority of Yahweh and His Anointed One. Second, the third person pronoun used in verses 4-6 refers to Yahweh who ridicules these nations that seek to deny Him. It also warns them that He would punish them with His wrath.
The third section (verses 7-9) includes a prophesy about the coming Messiah whom Yahweh will subject all nations to be under Him. This prediction includes both the First and Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The last section (verses 10-12) concludes Ps 2 with a warning that the kings and rulers of this world are to know Jesus Christ who is the king of kings and lord of lords. This also serves as a basis for us to keep on praying for the leaders of Singapore and other nations to fear God so that their governing policies and decisions made will be pleasing to Him.
As we look at the current situations of war and strife in the world such as Myanmar, Israel-Hamas, Russia-Ukraine and so on, we may have all kinds of mixed feelings. May Psalm 2 encourage us to keep our focus in God and be a reminder to us of His sovereignty.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding me that You are in control, even when the world seems chaotic. Help me to trust in Your perfect plan and surrender my life fully to Jesus, the true King. I want to take refuge in You—my Savior, my King, my refuge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
