Seeing God in a Chaotic World

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God!” They are all corrupt; they have done abominable deeds; there is no one who does good. (Psalm 14:1)
As we look around the world, it is easy to see that we are now living in a chaotic and troubling time. Powerful nations care only for their own interests, often at the expense of smaller and weaker countries. Principles of justice, international law, and even human dignity are increasingly being ignored. The rules originally meant to guide international relations are often distorted or even completely disregarded, all in the name of self-protection and the pursuit of dominance.
Jesus said in Matthew 15:14, “If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” When leadership is corrupt and self-serving, it sets a harmful example that influences the whole society. Before long, such behaviour becomes the norm, and the world sinks deeper into chaos, conflict, and despair.
Psalm 14 shows that the real cause of moral decline is a spiritual problem, a problem in the human heart. People may not say “There is no God,” but they live as if God doesn’t matter. They ignore God’s sovereignty and righteousness. When people no longer respect or fear God, they do whatever they want, and society starts to fall apart.
However, in verses 5 and 6, the psalmist points out that evildoers will be overwhelmed with dread, because God is in the company of the righteous... He is their refuge. The final verse declares that when the Lord brings revival, Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad. This reminds us that even when the world seems chaotic, God remains in control. He sees, He knows, and He will surely act. Salvation and revival will come from Him.
Reflection:
Are there areas in your life where you have failed to honour God or have ignored God’s presence and guidance?
In this chaotic world, how can we continue to acknowledge God as Lord and trust in his sovereignty and grace?
Prayer :
Dear Father, in this troubled world, help us to fear you, walk in your truth, and honour Christ as Lord in all we do. Strengthen our faith, and let your holy spirit guide us each day. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
